Trademarks vs. Copyrights: Know the Difference
Trademarks and copyrights were designed to protect two separate creations. Trademarks protect business names, phrases, and logos; while copyrights apply to creative or intellectual works.
Trademarks
A trademark protects words, phrases, symbols, or designs identifying the source of the goods or services of one party and distinguishing them from those of others.
Copyrights
Copyrights protects original works of authorship, such as literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, code and certain other intellectual works.
Trademarks are managed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, while copyrights are granted by the U.S. Copyright Office.
